Industrial estate redevelopment creating residential accommodation for key workers and students
  • Client: Elliot Group
  • Location: Liverpool
  • Sector: Residential and student

project overview

On behalf of the Elliot Group, Zerum submitted two separate but associated planning applications. The site is currently an industrial estate next to Liverpool’s new Royal Hospital.

The accommodation at No.01 Erskine will be available for hospital staff, as well as new homes for student nurses and doctors. The scheme will total 142 one- and two-bedroom apartments for rent to key workers. The accommodation at No. 02 Erskine includes 1007 student rooms.

The £100m development is set to include yoga studios, residents’ gym, bar and study zones and aims to push the boundary of the city’s expanding Knowledge Quarter further north.

The Falconer Chester Hall-designed scheme is 14 storeys at its highest point, and is made up of two buildings which will sit either side of public realm.

Both will add further demand for nearby high quality homes, notably among workers at the hospital and students from the neighbouring medical and dental schools. The design quality and on-site amenities are a cut above other such schemes as a result and we expect the convenient location to score very highly too.

Planning consent was secured and a start on site is imminent.
