Residential development within Canning Street conservation area
  • Client: Elliot Group
  • Location: Canning Street Conservation Area, Liverpool
  • Sector: Residential & Business

project overview

Zerum were instructed by the Elliot Group to prepare and submit an application for the erection of a 6 storey building containing 109 residential units, with a ground floor community use. The upper floors contain spacious one and two bed units for couples and young families. The ground floor unit has been earmarked for Blackburne House, a women’s training organisation and social enterprise, providing additional space for the expansion of its educational and employment offer for local people.

The design echoes the roof lines of the surrounding Georgian terraces and the scheme creates a contemporary build of outstanding quality, that respect surrounding listed Georgian townhouses, within the wider Conservation Area.

A public consultation event was held where local residents and businesses could meet and ask questions of the Design Team.

The scheme brings back into active use a vacant Brownfield site in a sustainable location.

It will deliver a variety of much needed high quality, well designed housing that will encourage people into this area of the city.

Planning consent was secured.
