Prominent 22-storey tower within Liverpool City Centre’s Business District
  • Client: Anwyl Construction Limited
  • Location: Liverpool City Centre
  • Sector: Residential

project overview

On behalf of Anwyl Construction Limited, Zerum prepared part 10, part 22 storey residential development comprising 336 apartments with associated communal facilities, and two ground floor commercial units. The application site is located within Liverpool City Centre’s Business District.

The brief from the client was to design a PRS scheme with ground floor commercial floor space that looked to form a strong marker on the edge of the site that would bring interest to Pall Mall and help create a beacon for the edge of Liverpool City Centre. They wanted to create a sustainable residential development which provided a good mix of dwelling sizes with ample amenity space and communal facilities. Another key aspiration was to create bright, airy, open plan, modern apartments which would add to the residential provision in the City.

These apartments would be afforded a reasonable provision of off-street parking and ample cycle storage to augment the schemes location adjacent to a number of primary public transport interchanges.

The prominent 22-storey tower feature will contribute positively towards the existing urban structure and hierarchy of buildings in this location. It will add needed depth to the northern cluster and enable a gradual reduction in building heights to the wider City Centre, which will be augmented by further development of the NCP car park and other vacant sites in the City’s Business Area.

Planning consent was granted in March 2017.
